OK ok ok so I know a lot of my followers on here are F1 fans but might not know much about the Le Mans 24h race- so here is a little preview post!

first off, the Le Mans 24h is widely regarded as the toughest undertaking in motorsport. It requires 100% concentration for a whole 24 hours from every single member of each team across the 30 or so car grid. The atmosphere and feel of the whole event, commonly referred to as the Le Mans spirit, is unrivaled in sport, in my opinion, and feels like one big festival of speed, endurance and glory. It’s hard to describe, but so easy to experience once you watch it and get involved. psssst it’s the best race in the WORLD

COVERAGE

One of the things that make Le Mans what it is, is the commentary team at radiolemans. I’m sure you’ll all recognise Hindy’s voice from various other motorsport escapades, and he, together with the other guys (Graham Goodwin, Nick Daman to name two) are the main source of commentary for all endurance racing. They always have superb coverage and if you can’t get video pictures, radiolemans is all you need! Listen live on their website. 

The LM24 is streamed across a lot of sites, unlike F1, it’s everywhere. Some of the teams even have it streamed on their websites, the WEC site has a live stream and Eurosport also cover it, so you will not be left without a stream! 

CLASS BATTLES

This year, the LMP1 battle for the overall win is between the top 2 factory teams, Toyota and Audi. I’m an Audi fan and don’t want to make this too bias so I’ll be quiet and let Hindy and the boys do the talking- they did 4 preview shows running up to this week and here’s the LMP1 preview podcast! 

All you F1 lot will be interested in the GTE Pro battle, with Bruno Senna in AMR and Kobayashi in Ferrari. Aston Martin, and Bruno, have a very good chance of winning this race so I recommend you tune in ;) here’s the very good Pro preview by radiolemans.

The race obviously lasts 24 hours, and starts 2pm GMT on Saturday. Here’s the timetable for the week.
