CHAD LE CLOS

<3

Oh I can’t handle him anymore he’s just too wonderful

He’s like a Rafa of the swimming world, I swear.

After his bronze medal ceremony (which he bounced around and grinned like he’d just won gold) he took time to sign autographs that people dropped down bits of paper for

I just

give

up

<3 The last man to beat Michael Phelps

He is the result of what Michael Phelps has done to the world of swimming.

I think many people overreacted when Chad beat him in the 200.

People said ‘oh Phelps has lost it, lost his touch’ when in fact, he was beaten, straight up. This is what Michael has WANTED- probably would have preferred not to be beaten in his last 200 fly, but this is what he set out to do- inspire kids and help produce the next generation of fantastic swimmers.

Chad is the perfect representation of him achieving just that. I thought it was very appropriate for him to win that race because, quite the opposite of suggesting Michael was not on form, it showed Michael Phelps truly is the greatest swimmer that has ever lived, for how he has changed the sport for the better.

Chad and I were talking, and Chad said “Why don’t you come to South Africa?” So I said “Let’s dive with great whites together.” And he said “OK, let’s set it up.” Hopefully we’ll be able to keep in touch and I’ll be able to get down there sometime this year and we can go out and dive. (x)

Was in the Olympic Park today for athletics but one of my highlights was seeing the Aquatics Centre. For me, swimming is such an inspiring and fascinating sport and a good couple of my heroes have swam in here last week. To be able to stand next to the place where Michael Phelps swam his last races, I can’t even begin to describe. <3 One day I’ll go in there. Such a beautiful building too.
