Now I’ve calmed down about the football,
DAY 3
Roger. Roger Federer. I was almost crying by the end of the first few games due to the sheer beauty of this man’s game on grass. He’s like Nadal on clay, nothing phases him and he is in complete control. My hopes for a Fedal final have now be resurrected, providing Rafa doesn’t randomly fuck anything up. But I trust him.
The two people I care most about in this half played each other today so Roger is basically the only one left that I actively support- Fabio was his usual fabulous self and played some excellent tennis today, it was so good to see him on Centre Court. Until next time, Fognini.
TOMORROW
Nadal is last on Centre so I’ll be home in time to catch it. Straight sets, please be quicker off the mark :c
Goffin is playing first on Court 18 so I’ll miss it ;____; I really, really hope he puts up a serious fight and gets into the third round.
VAMOS AND ALLEZ
DAY 6
I didn’t want to talk about Roger’s last match because I didn’t think it would happen again. But it did. He seems to just randomly lose it, not even dramatically lose focus, but sort of doesn’t try 100% for maybe six points. Before he knows what’s hit him he’s lost the set. This isn’t a cause for big drama in the first week, not particularly in the second either, but he can’t do that in the semis. If he wants to beat Djokovic he can’t ‘let’ him take a set off him because that will happen at some stage in the match anyway, I doubt Djokovic would lose in straights. He needs to pick up his serve pronto, and he was making wayyyy too many errors. Not on.
Today I fell a little bit in love with Fabio Fognini. I’ve never really noticed him before, but I did today, he’s got a sort of wild Italian flare about him that I like a lot, his expression on court is priceless. Anyway it was a shame he lost, his flare is just that, it flares and then it disappears so he didn’t really hold a fight consistently enough. Still, I’ll be watching him next time.
Talking of love, I’m falling for Jim Courier more and more every day, I have to say. He really is fantastic, his expressions and comments are just fabulous. Little bromance developing between him and Mark Petchey this afternoon which was fun to listen to.
TOMORROW
Will be watching Andy’s match with great curiosity, apparently his back was fine today but I’m not sure how he’ll hold out. Ferru needs to get through. I really hope Rafa didn’t get any ideas about dropping sets today from watching Roger. VAMOS
