WIMBLEDON: Day 7

DAY 7

OK I apologise for not posting updates recently, the Rafa match took a while to recover from. But I’m alright now. I still miss him, but I think it’s a tribute to what he’s achieved over the last year especially, that we find it very, very strange not having a NADAL on the scoreboard for the second week of a grand slam. He fought hard and I’m proud of him.

My heart, I have to admit, is not really in the tournament anymore. I mean, I’m still watching it of course, and still screaming at Roger whenever I must, but Rafael will always have that something extra special, idk how else to describe it.

Roger has decided again that he will refuse to win in straight sets, so we will have to deal with it. He was lucky today that his opponent couldn’t keep up his tennis for very long. I was a bit worried about his back, and I still am, but he seemed to think it was fine after the match, so. And he’s showing fighting spirit :D

TOMORROW

Ferrer/Delpo is tomorrow on Centre, I’m so excited for them both <3 should be a fabulous match, I’d love it to be a really good one, go to five.

WIMBLEDON: Day 3

Now I’ve calmed down about the football,

DAY 3

Roger. Roger Federer. I was almost crying by the end of the first few games due to the sheer beauty of this man’s game on grass. He’s like Nadal on clay, nothing phases him and he is in complete control. My hopes for a Fedal final have now be resurrected, providing Rafa doesn’t randomly fuck anything up. But I trust him.

The two people I care most about in this half played each other today so Roger is basically the only one left that I actively support- Fabio was his usual fabulous self and played some excellent tennis today, it was so good to see him on Centre Court. Until next time, Fognini.

TOMORROW

Nadal is last on Centre so I’ll be home in time to catch it. Straight sets, please be quicker off the mark :c

Goffin is playing first on Court 18 so I’ll miss it ;____; I really, really hope he puts up a serious fight and gets into the third round.

WIMBLEDON: Day 2

DAY 2

Obvious start would be Rafael’s antics on Centre Court this afternoon. Scared the shit out of me, as I’m sure you can all guess, the first 4 games. I mean, we all know he usually takes a while to settle into matches but THAT was just terrifying. He was missing forehands he would never, ever miss normally and it scared me, to see him so uncomfortable. It was painful to see him clearly distressed, both at his own game and Thomaz’s excellent forehands and serving. Still, I never had any doubt he’d win it and he got through it 7-6(7-0) 6-2 6-3. Hoping his next match will be easier.

Fallen completely in love with David Goffin. Loved him dearly at Roland Garros, even when he took a set off Roger, and he’s been flawless once again on grass. Super proud this is only his first time at Wimbledon, through to the second round <3 It was an excellent match, Tomic being sloppy at times, but once Daveed relaxed he took complete control. Seriously, watch out for this guy this year.

Delpo got through! Watched the last two sets of Andy Murray’s match, he looks in comfortable shape and I’m very glad he doesn’t seem to be bothered by any injuries, his back looks ok.

Ferru didn’t get to finish his match so I’ll catch the end of that tomorrow.

TOMORROW

Roger plays Fognini tomorrow, which I’m super excited about because it’s the first match in quite a while I’ve seen where I adore both players. Unfortunately I won’t be around for it but will make sure I record it! Expecting straight sets.

WIMBLEDON: Day 1

DAY 1

AWH it’s finally arrived. Can’t believe it’s only been a few weeks since Roland Garros and we’re into another grand slam!

I adore Wimbledon, I really do. For all my love of Roland, and yes, those courts practically own my soul, SW19, I have to admit, is the home of tennis. Everything is so special here it’s unbelievable. Centre Court has been the stage for the best matches in history, no argument there!

SO. Rafa is going to win another one, I think it’s time again, yes? Honestly before today I didn’t think a Fedal final was going to be possible, given the shitty way Roger played in Paris. But my god, his match was flawless today. Apart from a few crap errors on his forehand and a silly missed lob, his backhand was on fire, acing all over the place and breaking when needed. More than needed.

Isner lost :c I was upset for a minute then realised this means Mahut avoids him in the second round. His match finishes tomorrow.

FOGNINI, MY NEWEST TENNIS BABY WON. <3 awhhh he plays Roger next which I’m super excited about, should be such an excellent match.

Very proud of Heather Watson also :’D

TOMORROW

Nadal. Please, for the love of god, get through your first round, to calm me down. Play some very good tennis. Serve well, nothing massive, just well. Get comfortable. Win in straights. That is all.

GOFFIN. Win. Winnnnnn. Make it good in the process.

Feli, also make it good. Lleyton, please try your best.

Daveed, straight sets! Delpo, behave.

It’s so nice knowing Nadal and Federer are back in London.

Just to be, like, five miles away from them just feels nice. <3

Idk, bit weird

Will freak out again at Wimbledon next year.

Talking of Wimbledon, I’m going in for semi tickets.

I’m not sure why I’m doing that to myself because I’ll stab myself regularly in the eye if Djokovic against someone random is the only match/es I see, and I’ll stab myself generally regularly if Nadal or Federer are in the match/es. The stress. Will be unbelievable.

If not, also hopefully getting a ground pass for both weeks (this will burn serious holes in my pocket but heyho) so will see if any matches carry over past 5ish. Hoping to get there a few of the mornings as well to see practices.

/this has turned into a Wimbledon Planning Post so I’ll stop now

Wimbledon

At the beginning, two weeks ago, it was so exciting, everything was beautiful, Rafa had won the French and was looking good, Federer was looking good and we had a plan

Then even though Djokovic was playing well Federer was playing better and Rafa was being brilliant, and they all made it through to the second week

And then Federer fucked up

Then everyone was useless against Djokovic

Then Tsonga fucked up

But Rafa was being flawless and won from a set down in the semis

Then today

Hello.

Today is Men’s Final Day at Wimbledon.

I am going crazy with the waiting already.

This match is going to be the most painful thing I’ve watched all year so far.

Even though my favourite player of all time is part of it.

I may need a hug later.

Here’s a better one.
